Solar Domes

Oct 2nd 2009 my solar panel system was installed by Axium Solar.
If you are interested in a system, and live in north Texas talk to Rusty Speed, and tell him I sent you.

The system I got uses the new Enphase Micro-inverters.
It has 18 panels rated at 225 Watts, making it a 4 KW system
|
Unfortunately, there have not been many sunny days since the panels were installed. but as of Oct 10th, I have generated over 71 KWh.

They said on the news last week, that we have set a record for cloudcover of over 85% of the daytime so far this month.
Not great for solar production.
Finaly on Saturday, Oct 17th the sun was out, and as you can see above, I produced 23 kWh and 11 of that was pushed out to the grid.
but Saturday evening, I used 18 kWh after the sun was down, so I am not totally self sufficient yet.
My normal usage seems to be about 30 kWh per day, and I made 23, so that means I should reduce my electric bill by about 75% when the sun shines.

Sunday morning, I flipped off some unnecessary surge strips and unplugged a couple battery chargers and fans to reduce my consumption.
I produced 25 kWH of which I sent 13 to the grid,
I did like the highlighted efficiency, which shows that at peak production, I had under 13% losses in conversion of the solar DC to usable AC power.
